Saratoga Springs, NY - The city's Department of Public Works is asking residents to limit outdoor watering starting Tuesday, August 12, 2025, to help conserve water during a stretch of hot, dry weather.

Commissioner Chuck Marshall cited high summer demand, below-average July rainfall, and an unfavorable forecast as reasons for the precautionary measure. "Help from residents to conserve water will go a long way to preserve the reservoir levels until it's replenished with some heavy rains," Marshall said.

Water use in the city has spiked this summer - from an average of 4.3 million gallons per day in 2024 to 5.2 million in June and 6.6 million in July this year.

Under the voluntary guidelines:

The guidelines will remain in effect until further notice. Residents with questions can contact the Department of Public Works at 518-587-3550 ext. 2555.
